PSG Edges Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Lift Trophee des Champions Super Cup in Kuwait.

PSG players celebrating

PSG has now claimed the prestigious trophy on 14 different times.

Paris Saint-Germain needed a stoppage-time leveler followed by a perfect spot-kick decider to get past Marseille in Kuwait and capture a fourth straight Trophee des Champions title.

The European champions appeared to be coasting towards a comfortable triumph in the match featuring the Ligue 1 champions and the French Cup holders after the French winger opened the net in the opening stages.

However, Marseille struck twice late to seize a surprise lead. First, Mason Greenwood scored from the spot-kick, before the defender unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking turn of events, the Portuguese striker snatched a vital equaliser in the dying moments to send the match into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier then stood as the key figure, saving decisive attempts from Matt O'Riley and Traore.

In the shootout, Goncalo Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all converted successfully for PSG to complete a convincing penalty win.

Now 14-time winners PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now lifted this trophy for the 12th time in the last thirteen seasons.
